Relief For NFA As QBIK Falcons Return To Sweden

Maureen Madu in action for QBIKTHE Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has admitted that they faced a huge challenge following the sacking of three Super Falcons players by Swedish side QBIK late last year but now that the players are on their way back to Sweden, officials say they are relieved and look forward to a more cautious approach while relating with foreign clubsides of Nigerian players, reports hotsportslive.com.

The duo of Maureen Mmadu and Faith Ikidi were issued with visas by the Swedish embassy Friday to join their new clubside Linkoping IF and Chairman of the NFA, Alhaji Sani Lulu was appreciative of the efforts of Switzerland-based FIFA agent, Kester Ezuma in getting the players the new club.

“It is a big relief to the NFA that the girls are heading back to Sweden”, said Alhaji Lulu. “We were worried while the whole thing lasted because the girls are some of our best talents. Now that they are going back in Sweden, we are relieved. We will continue to stand by our players, where ever they may be because we have so much faith in them”, said the NFA boss.

FIFA licensed agent of the players, Kester Ezuma told hotsportslive.com that they departed Monday night aboard a KLM flight from Abuja to Stockholm where Club officials have been waiting to receive them.

“Linkoping is desperate to have the players because the Women’s League season has just started in Sweden and in their first game, they lost 2-1 to IFK Goteburg.

Actually, they were supposed to join them before the commencement of the season but because of the election, they are now leaving Monday night
”, explained Ezuma to hotsportslive.com.

The trio of Maureen Mmadu, Faith Ikidi and Yinka Kudaisi were axed by QBIK in December last year after the players left the Club without approval to help Nigeria win the 5th African Women Championship, a biennial competition which served as qualification for September’s FIFA Women World Cup in China. Kudaisi had since pitched tent with local side Pelican Stars of Calabar.
