Uwak In Nigeria To Prepare For FIFA All-Stars Tie

Cynthia UwakREIGNING CAF Woman Footballer of the Year, Cynthia Uwak has arrived Nigeria from Finland to prepare for next weekends’ FIFA All Stars Gala match against China Women National team, an event which precedes the draw for the 2007 FIFA Women Championship in China, reports hotsportslive.com.

“Yes, I am in town to get ready for the All Stars game”, said Uwak who stars in top Finish side, FC United.

The highly talented Uwak will play as a striker in the April 22 tie alongside other notable world stars like Germany’s Pohlers Conny, USA‘s Lilly Kristine among others at the Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium, where four first-round matches and two quarter-finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup China 2007 will also be staged.

Also, two other African stars, South Africa’s Portia Modise and Ghana’s creative midfielder Adjoa Bayor will be on parade.

Meanwhile, all is now set for the draw ceremony taking place next weekend in Wuhan with African Champions, the Super Falcons set to know their fate.

The basic draw principles, which have been approved by the FIFA Committee for Women's Football and the Women's World Cup, chaired by Worawi Makudi (Thailand), comprise of the following:

- The hosts, China, will occupy position 1 in Group D (D1);

- The reigning world champions, Germany, will occupy position A1;

- The USA and Norway, first and third in the FIFA World Ranking for March 2007, respectively – Germany are ranked second - have been seeded. The draw will determine the group in which they are placed (B or C) as well as their position in their group;

- No group may contain more than one team from the same confederation, except UEFA (maximum two teams in a same group).

Brimming with enthusiasm and professionalism, the Chinese Local Organising Committee (LOC) is now putting the finishing touches to a ceremony which promises to be highly entertaining.
